While we in SF survived the Pride Parade and the citizens of Toronto were attempting to survive the G20 Summit, I worked on Press lists and did laundry. Ah yes, the glamorous life of a touring actor/producer. I am really looking forward to starting rehearsal with Alan tomorrow.Our first day.We had a production meeting last Thursday and all were present! Erin Maxwell,SM, Courtney Pheils, Box Office, Rose Gutierrez, FOH,Alan Choy,pianist,and Cathie Anderson,lighting advisor. What a a wonderful group of people! There was a really nice energy in the room. Now, all we need to do is share it with the SF public. Come on Press! get on board the Piaf train!

Counting down to San Francisco

Well, it is one month until we open at The Eureka Theatre in San Francisco (215 Jackson Street) and tickets are already selling on www.brownpapertickets.com. We're taking on a 6 performance week for 5 weeks, the longest run since Off-Broadway in 2007-08! Alan Choy will be playing piano and Erin Maxwell will be Stage Managing. We're very excited to be heading to snowy Ottawa for 11 shows in December. Come joins us for a pre-Holiday dose of L'amour and chansons to supercharge you for winter! BC Tour report

It is now a month since we have returned from our first tour "Out West". We had a great time, although it was not without it's touring challenges! We were blessed with the wonderful support of friends and family in the form of accommodation, food, social relief and love. Elda Pinkney was brought to us by Jackson (who loaned us his van for the whole time!) who did some great marketing for us in Vancouver for our run at the Firehall. Yan Li, our pianist was a great talent...so young...so...funny! There were many laughs and he was such a great sport - Cuscheon Lake. Our experience in Sidney was fabulous with my sister filling in as stage manager! She did a great job!

Leaving BC behind, the summer ended with a peaceful two show detour in Knowlton Quebec at Theatre Lac Brome. John Gilbert was on keys again, and it gave me chills up and down my spine. An extra show was added Saturday afternoon as tickets were selling like hot cakes! Thanks Nicholas for a wonderful time!

Time to put together the next year....Watch out for the French Premier in Quebec City at Le Petit Champlain in April 2010 and, hopefully a stint in San Fransisco.

Back from Montreal

We have returned from a wonderfully wintery 2 week run at the Centaur Theatre in Montreal Quebec. Adam did a great job as Publicist and Associate Producer. Jen Jones was on board as my stage manager and the great John Gilbert was "the band". He added so many new textures and colors to the score. It was joy to work with these people every night as short as it was. The Montreal Press responded with favor toward the show, and we are grateful. See some of the reviews and previews in the attached links. The highlight of the run was meeting Theodore O. Prounis, the son of the owner of New York's Versailles during the 40's and 50's where Edith Piaf got her start in North America. He had wonderfully kind words about the show and the performance. It was a thrill to meet someone who knew Piaf and had seen her perform dozens of times. We're working on the next place to do the show! Where next?

Heading to Manila!

A Fundraising Success!

Centaur Theatre in Montreal Quebec celebrated 40 years of English professional theatre last Tuesday (September 23rd 2008) and Piaf: Love Conquers All was honoured to be the entertainment part of the evening. I created a one hour version of the 2 act show and the evening was a success! A standing ovation and two curtain calls. The audience was thrilled and so was the Theatre as it was a Sold Out event at $250 a ticket! This time, on hand, I had the wonderfully musical John Gilbert on piano and Jake Langley assited with calling the light and sound cues. Ms. Jennifer Jones was the ASM and as always my wonderful associate director and Producer Adam Blanshay was schmoozing and rubbing elbows with Montreal's top generous supporters of the Arts. We will be returning to Montreal in January 2009 for a two week run, so look out for us then. Check out www.lvrproductions.com as always for up to date show schedules.

Also, my wonderfully talented Stephanie Layton and I have started music rehearsals, which include playing out doors in the parks and subways of New York. Last Sunday we were in Washington Square. People loved the act - me dressed as Piaf and Steph on accordion, both of us in costume. This coming Sunday, we're going uptown, so keeps your eyes peeled and your ears perked!

And we couldn't be more thrilled! I'm not sure quite how it happened (something to do with fecebook - as I recall I stole all his friends - they still like him better) but he is a little Angel come to add his creativity and energy to this little sparrow's nest called Piaf: Love Conquers All. Adam has a background in theatre as a performer but has also been credited for directing, assistant directing, performing and producing in shows Off-Broadway and in Montreal, Canada. I, as the director of this show for the past three years, am so excited to have his input and support. Yay!

Well, after much networking and posting it was through the generous referral of Roy Arias from Arias Studios (300 West 43rd - lots of great rental units available for rehearsals in midtown) that we have found Ivonne Herrera and she is awesome and it's going to be great! End of Casting day!

It is 7 weeks until the big day! We had a great day of casting today for the role of pianist/various roles. We've put the offer in, just waiting for the acceptance! I'm so excited about the movie being out. I've seen it two times! Even did a little interview on CBC about it and my upcoming show in New York at The Fringe. There is a vigorous re-interest in Piaf. All over You Tube there is video footage I have never seen and which is very difficult to find. Thank you to Sheila, last week, for lending me 24 CD's and two video cassettes for more Piaf research! I'm still waiting on some books from France.
